Joseph Everette was born on November 6, 1935, in Fountain, North Carolina. He enlisted in the North Carolina Army National Guard on February 15, 1954, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on November 2, 1954. Everette served in the combat engineering career field with the 28th Installations Squadron at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, from February 1955 to November 1958. He then cross-trained into aircraft maintenance as an instrument repair technician, completing his tech school at Chanute AFB, Illinois, in April 1959. Sgt Everette served with the 2712th Air Maintenance Squadron at Tachikawa AB, Japan, from April 1959 to May 1962. He then transferred to the 2853rd Air Base Wing at Robins AFB, Georgia, where he served from May 1962 to July 1964. Everette next served with the 334th and 335th Tactical Fighter Squadrons at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina, from July 1964 to June 1969. During this time, Sgt Everette made two deployments to Southeast Asia in support of the Vietnam War, one in 1965 and another in 1968. Both of these deployments were to bases in Thailand. He also deployed to South Korea and Turkey during his time at Seymour Johnson AFB. His final assignment was with the 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron at Camp New Amsterdam, Holland, where he served from June 1969 until his death in a car accident on April 13, 1970. Joseph Everette was buried at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Pitt County, North Carolina.
