Clint Haynes was born on February 9, 1921, in Mashpee, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces on August 10, 1942, and after basic training he completed Aircraft Armament School at Buckley, Colorado, in January 1943. Pvt Haynes was assigned to the 328th Fighter Squadron of the 352nd Fighter group and deployed with the unit to England in July 1943, serving as an armorer on P-47 Thunderbolts and then P-51 Mustangs until returning to the U.S. in November 1945. After returning to the U.S., Cpl Haynes received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Forces at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, on November 13, 1945. Clint Haynes died on December 23, 2005, and was buried at the Old Indian Cemetery in Mashpee, Massachusetts.
